Common phrases

Use this phrase when you want to thank someone. Make sure to thank the people who would help you in your journey.

• Comment vousappelez-vous? 

This translates to “What is your name?” You might make a handful of friends while traveling to France; therefore, ask their names and add them to your friend list!

• Pouvez-Vousm’aider? (Can you help me?)

Traveling to a new country especially, a solo trip can be a bit scary. Greet someone before asking them for help and thank them.

• Quel temps va-t-il faire aujourd’hui? (What will the weather be like today?)

It is a good idea to learn about the weather before sightseeing.

• Pouvez-vousm’appeler un taxi, s’ilvousplaît? (Can you call me a taxi, please?) 

It might be difficult to find a taxi when public transport is scarce, especially at an odd hour. In that case, you can ask the locals about a cab.

Common words 

• Bonjour (hello)- This is used to greet each other. Using a monsieur(sir) or madame(mam) might be more normal and pleasant.
• Non– This translates to “no.”
• Oui- It means “yes.”
• Au revoir- Bid adieu or Goodbye.
