The Korean language has existed for more than 1000 years, yet was initially written by utilizing Chinese characters until King Sejong the Great invented the Hangul alphabet in the 15th century.
The Korean language is part of a northern Asian language known as Altaic, which includes Turkish, Mongolian, and Japanese, suggesting early Northern migrations and trade. Korean was also heavily influenced by Chinese, but have adopted its own writing system in the 16th century.
The entire course leads you through the learning process step by step way of teaching to help strengthen your memory of the words and sentences you are going to learn. It is designed specifically to make you learn, as opposed to making you do the learning on your own.
Language Proficiency
PROFICIENCY – BEGINNER
Introduction to Korean is a Beginners Korean course for students who have never studied the Korean language before. Korean Levels 1&2 is a Beginners Korean course for students who have never studied the Korean language before. This is an intensive Korean course allowing you to take two Korean levels in 6 weeks and progress more quickly.

PROFICIENCY – ELEMENTARY
Korean Level 3 is an Elementary Korean course for students who have already completed a Beginners course. Korean Level 2 requires that you have previously studied Korean Level 1&2 or a course of at least 48 class hours.

PROFICIENCY – INTERMEDIATE
Korean Level 9 is a Pre-Intermediate Korean course for students who have been studying the Korean language for a while. Korean Level 9 requires that you have previously studied Korean Level 8 or a course of at least 96 class hours.

PROFICIENCY – ADVANCE
Intermediate Korean Level is an Advanced course for students who have studied the Korean language to a high level and wish to work on fluency. This Course requires that you have previously studied a course of at least 180 class hours.
This course focuses on the conversation so you will have the opportunity to improve and refine:
- Your conversational skills
- Your fluency by focusing on specific tasks
- Your pronunciation by:
- Learning to recognize specific sounds and reproduce them
- Finding your perfect speech pace
- Learning to use your mouth to produce those difficult sounds
- Your intonation: sound like a native!
- Learn how to join words in more complex sentences and express yourself effectively: intonation communicates your emotions and intentions
- Focus on cultural awareness
- During the course, you will be encouraged to record yourself
International Exam Preparatory Course
TOPIK, Test of Proficiency in Korean, is a written test designed to measure the ability of non-native speakers for expression and comprehension in the Korean language.
TOPIK test measures proficiency in reading, writing, and listening comprehension in the Korean language. The test has three different levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Further accuracy is expressed through six grades, two matched to each level to evaluate proficiency.
Purpose of Exam :
To propagate and set direction for learning Korean for non-native Korean speakers and overseas Koreans.
To measure and evaluate their Korean language skills and utilize the results for admission to Korean colleges and job-seeking.
The Korean Embassies and Korean Culture Centres (한국문화원) administer the TOPIK tests. Some affiliate institutes also accept the applications. You can get the list of the affiliate institutions on www.topik.go.kr. For registration, you have to visit the embassy or affiliate institution with 2 passport size photographs and the registration fee (which varies country to country).
