1.Understand the test format:
Which IELTS test is right for me?
There are 2 varieties of IELTS: Academic and General Training. Listening and Speaking are identical for each test, however, the topic matter of the Reading and Writing sections differs looking on that test you’re taking.
The Listening, Reading, and Writing sections of all IELTS tests are completed on a similar day, with no breaks in between them. The Speaking section, however, will be completed up to per week before or when the other tests. Your test center will advise. the entire test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes. 2.Official IELTS practice materials:

IELTS has developed two sets of official practice materials, designed to help you understand the test format and the types of test questions. 3.Consider a preparation course:
If you’d like to help with test preparation, IELTS centers, and language schools around the world provide IELTS preparation courses. 4.Register as soon as possible:
When you feel you are ready to take the test, you need to register for a test date with an IELTS center at Cambridge Institute, Mumbai. Its have over 1,600 test locations in more than 140 countries. The number of test-takers who can take the test on a particular date may be limited, so contact the center as soon as possible. You will need to pay the test fee when you register.
The IELTS Academic and General Training test results are reported using the same nine-band scale:
The Test Report Form provides your Overall Band Score and band scores for each of the four components: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
The Overall Band Score is the average of the four component scores, rounded to the nearest whole or half band. The component scores are weighted equally.
If the average of the four components ends in .25, the Overall Band Score is rounded up to the next half band, and if it ends in .75, the Overall Band Score is rounded up to the next whole band.
If you don’t get the result you want, you can register for another IELTS test as soon as you feel ready to do so.
Before Applying for the attending test for the second time, take a moment to consider focusing on the ILTS Score and Score Band. Your score is should be up to the mark which will calculate and make a significant effort to improve your English.
Research on international students found that it appeared harder to improve in the productive language skills (Speaking and Writing) than in the receptive skills (Listening and Reading). The study found that the least average improvement was in Writing.
Ask yourself the following questions:
- Have I read about IELTS band scores and what each band score represents?
- Have I tried the practice test questions?
- Am I practicing my English at home and at work/university?
- Have I taken any other steps to improve my English language skills?
- Was I as calm and relaxed as possible when I took the test?
